What about FFII? No experince points at all. What about FFIV? The use of the Active Time Battle was a major depature from the Turn Based Battles of the first three games. Or FFX? No more world map or controllable airships. FFXII? Completly different in the gameplay in every aspect of the games that preceded it. FFXIII? Also, will be completely different that others. You see, Final Fantasy is at heart an ever evolving game play experience. No matter what, every game has several mechancis that every other game does not. So it's online. Who cares? It's just another way of playing a new type of Final Fantasy.

I know it usually takes an eternity for SE to release their games but in this case my gut feeling tells me they've been waiting until they were sure they could deliver on a timely manner before giving a release date, even if it's just a year...

Im so excited I cant wait for 2010, this game looks so awesome and finally no more ps2 limitations, im pretty sure this game will be more epic than FF ever was.. I cant wait to be a nub again in the starting area... I just hope we dont see the same mobs we saw on FF... I just want SE to announce it on Xbox b4 it comes out because I buying a new console for just 1 game hurts..;_;

I mean as others have said this can only mean the death of FFXI or the failure of FFXIV. Unless they somehow combine the two.

Also I have heard rumors that is surrounding the same types of characters and land, etc. I was hoping a for a new land to travel in and new empires or kingdoms. Not same old elves, humes, cats, and whatever those huge ape looking things are.

Also I like what salt said. Anything to make it more solo friendly. If I have to eat a face full of dirt I would rather it be of my own doing than someone who decided to go make a sandwich without telling anyone.

I have been on FFXI ever since the NA PS2 release and been loving it. I can't wait for FFXIV to come out. Going to be amazing.

As for the whole "why make this if FFXIII is not out yet". FFXIII was going to be released however was delayed cause they had to get it ready for that bumbling idiot of a machine(XBOX360)

I think it's awesome news. I wanted to go back to FFXI, but I lost my first character and hated starting over. And the fact I got used to how pretty LoTRO looks.

I really wanted to play an FF MMO again so I was waiting for this.

As for the release date, we'll see. Hopefully it'll stay in 2010.

As for people saying it will flop because it's on PS3. I dunno. SOME people might buy a PS3, just for it and majority of people (that I know) play MMO's on their PC.

What really bugs me is that it's another numbered entry.

Spinoffs shouldn't be considered part of the numbered series, in my opinion. An MMO is as different a beast from a regular RPG as a tactics game is. Final Fantasy XI annoyed me enough because of this. If you're going to number this, maybe the next Crystal Chronicles game should be FFXV and then the next Tactics can be FFXVI.

The buzz seems to be that it's going to have the same relationship to FFXI that FFTA2 had to FFTA. In other words, pretty much the same races, gameplay, and jobs, with some expansion on all three fronts, and much prettier graphics.

Not having played FFXI, and having no intention of playing FFXIV, I can't really comment on whether that's a good thing or not. 8-)

Lets hope they learned from mistakes in FFXI.
Allow solo gameplay please, that was a major thing that turned me away from trying the game.
Yes, I know it's a social game, but sometimes I just don't feel like grouping and dealing with potential mouthbreathers, because I'm in a bad mood.
Just want to logon and advance my character a little.

As for those then went "Wat!" at the announcement when FFXIII isn't even out yet.
I kind of had the same responses until I realised FFXIV is a MMO.

For FFXIII and FXIV to be release so close together is probably the fault of the FXIII team, they delayed the damn game so long that the team responsible for a bloody MMO caught up with them.
Good lord.

FFXIII must have be stuck in "developerment hell" and that is never a good sign.

WoW..this looks so sweet, I think ill have to buy a ps3 because my pC will explode even by just opening the disk tray to install this... But one thing that caught my eye: It says " You must join hands... once again". Is it talking about us as players coming together, or are they talking about the races coming together again?...
