Being the money making greaddy bastard I am, I always trudge through my farming for days and days to get enough money to just buy the best of the best that I can.

Yes. It is boring. Yes. It does make you want to quit after farming for weeks on end. But when you have amassed your first 10 million gil by selling off drops that no one thinks about, you feel pretty good.

Then you go out and buy that Mercurial Kris with your hard earned gil and play with it, realizing it is crap within a week. So you try to sell it and no one will buy it. Next thing you know the price drops down to 3 mil for it and you're out all that gil when you finally get rid of it.

And then that new dagger shows up. And it costs 7 mil. Time to farm. Again.

Kill me.

Off topic - Just wanted to say the Utsusemi reference is awesome. He was my favorite character in Bushido Blade. I played that game so much I named my cat that. Never did the quest line in FF XI though

if anyone knows anything about FFXI crafting you have to make a trade off for HQs. While Dave may have hoped for an HQ, he might have wanted to hope to get something at all.

If you face in the good direction on the good day, your chance of HQ goes down to practicably below 0.

You have to face in the opposite direction on the opposite day to get a high HQ chance... but this comes with the counter of breaking everything you look at.

And to Tim, go back to wow, or shoot yourself. Most -real- MMOs have a crafting system that hinges a little bit on luck. EQ2 being the other one I've played a bit. The fact that you'd rather pay for a casual game is not my problem.

How exactly is failing a synth make all of FFXI lame anyway? If we all thought that way, there would be tons of games that are awesome we wouldn't play. It's all about the roll of the dice.

Eh, we all have those day's where we do that kind of stuff. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but I know where your coming from. On the other hand I DO know many who would do a dissapearing act constantly.

Poor Dave, that sucks. It reminds me of the hakutaku eyes sythn, break one material and you lose them all. I'm surprised all of your items went away during that one sythn, some high lvl crafter that is... He should have been facing the right direction on the right day, then you'd definitely have your HQ. :D

The only huge synth item I've ever tried is a royal bed, which succeeded, but my stomach even turns when I fail tiny synths.

Ouch dave I know how you feel. I remember when Vclaws were 2mil and I tried to have an SH+1 synthed from an LS mate. I bought 3 claws, 2 NQ, and the final synth broke. Keep in mind this synth was a 1mil loss. I died a little inside.
